Melissa McCarthy to Return for Netflix’s ‘Gilmore Girls’ Revival (Video)

“The Boss” actress makes announcement on “Ellen”

After much rumor and speculation, Melissa McCarthy announced Thursday she will return for Netflix’s “Gilmore Girls” revival after all.

The actress made the announcement during an appearance on “Ellen,” which is set to air on Friday.

“There has been something that I have been asked about so, so many times and it hasn’t worked out and there is… they’re making four new movies of the ‘Gilmore Girls’ which is a show which was near and dear to my heart for four years and we could not get those schedules to work,” said McCarthy, who stopped byt the daytime show to promote her new movie, “The Boss.”

“And there was a whole thing. And then I was gonna be out of the country and blah, blah, blah. And literally about an hour and half ago we figured out that I’m gonna go back and do it and I am so excited. And they are gonna be amazing.”

Previously, McCarthy maintained she would not be returning for the revival of the show on which she played the chef Sookie, best friend of single mom Lorelai Gilmore (Lauren Graham).

The new series, which is untitled, will be produced by Dorothy Parker Drank Here Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television.

Graham, Alexis Bledel, Scott Patterson and Kelly Bishop are returning, and Jared Padelecki, Milo Ventigmilia, Matt Czuchry, David Sutcliffe, Sean Gunn, Keiko Ageno, Liza Weil and Yanic Truesdale are also on board to reprise their roles.

McCarthy’s movie career has exploded since her “Gilmore Girls” days, and she’ll next be seen in this week’s “The Boss,” as well as this summer’s “Ghostbusters” reboot. She is represented by CAA and MGMT.
