Meredith Vieira is just sick of the backlash against her former "Today" show co-host Matt Lauer, who has been getting much of the blame after the NBC morning show fired Ann Curry.
“Even if [NBC] blew it from a PR point of view, you’ve got to move on," Vieira told the New York Post. "I think what is happening to Matt is really wrong.”
In the wake of Curry's boot, fans have seen Lauer as a main player in her dismissal. In addition to declining show ratings, the male host's Q score, which measures how likeable a TV personality is to the public, had fallen 25 percent last year after the Curry debacle.

Interest in the affair had recently been rekindled by the release of New York Times media reporter Brian Stelter's book on morning TV's change in fortunes, "Top of the Morning," last week.
During the course of writing the book, Stelter documented "Today's" fall from grace, including the plot to remove Curry, and "GMA's" momentous breaking of the NBC show's 16-year-streak of viewership supremacy last April.
But, Vieira won't be reading Stelter's book. "I'm not interested," she said.
“I don’t want to get on a high horse, because I understand why people write it," Vieira went on to say. "I’m not trying to say he’s wrong to do it, but I look at it and it’s so personal to me. It’s my friends.”

For Stelter's part, he recently told TheWrap that he has a high regard for Lauer and feels his point of view is well represented in the book – despite his refusal to interview for the publication.
"I spoke to his friends, his colleagues and tried to understand his point of view and I think that it’s reflected all over the book," Stelter told us. "I think the book is pretty sympathetic to Matt Lauer."
