Michael Jackson's personal physican, Dr. Conrad Murray, will stand trial for involuntary manslaughter in September rather than this month, a judge ruled Tuesday.
The doctor is accused of giving Jackson an overdose of the anaesthesia Propofol and then not providing adequate care.
Murray has pleaded not guilty.
The trial was scheduled to begin next week, but defense lawyers told Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Michael Pastor that they needed more time to prepare arguments against new prosecution witnesses.
The 171 people who had been called as potential jurors will be excused. A new panel will be called in on Sept. 8 for new jury selection.
