Michael Strahan officially started his “Good Morning America” gig Tuesday, when he received a warm welcome from his new full-time colleagues George Stephanopoulos and Robin Roberts.

The “GMA” staffers behind the camera needed a bit of encouragement, but they eventually gave it up for the former New York Giants great and “Live With Kelly and Michael” co-host. The environment will become more raucous on Thursday, when the Disney broadcaster begins performing to a live studio audience.

“It is great to have you full-time with us,” Roberts said this morning. “It does feel like the first day of school, doesn’t it?”

“Yeah, the only thing missing is my Spider-Man lunchbox,” Strahan replied.

Strahan had previously contributed to the ABC morning program, but now it’s his regular job. He bailed on Kelly Ripa this spring after four years at the syndicated talker.

Ripa and her executive producer Michael Gelman are still searching for Strahan’s permanent “Live” replacement. The 29th season of “Live” officially starts this morning as well.
