Miley Cyrus has an extra twerk in her step on Wednesday morning.
In a surprise to no one, the pop star’s new album “Bangerz” is topping the Billboard 200 chart, selling 270,000 copies in its first week, the charting company reports. The tally was actually higher than the quarter-million predicted by industry insiders.

“Bangerz” is Miley’s fifth No. 1 album, counting her days as split-personality Hannah Montana. The record follows her previous country-leading offerings: the Disney Channel TV series’ first soundtrack in 2006, its big-screen film adaptation soundtrack in 2009, the half-soundtrack/half-studio album “Hannah Montana 2/Meet Miley Cyrus” in 2007, and 2008’s “Breakout.”
Panic! at the Disco’s “Too Weird to Live, Too Rare to Die” is the closest runner-up this week, with 84,000 units sold in the group’s own debut. Drake‘s “Nothing Was the Same” sold 83,000 units in its third week. Rapper Pusha T’s “My Name Is My Name” came in fourth with 75,000 albums moved.
The cast soundtrack from Thursday’s landmark “Glee” episode, “The Quarterback” — a tribute to the late Cory Monteith — hit the charts at No. 7 with 47,000 sales. It is the first Top 10 for the show since 2011.
