Miramax Signs Streaming Deal with Amazon Subsidiary LoveFilm

Pact involved streaming rights in the U.K. and Germany

Miramax continued its aggressive push into digital streaming Tuesday, announcing that it has signed a new deal with LoveFilm in the U.K. and Germany.

Subscribers to the Amazon subsidiary will get access to Miramax titles like "There Will Be Blood," "Jackie Brown" and "The Aviator."

Since being sold in 2010 to a group of investors that included construction magnate Ron Tutor, Miramax's new leadership has  focused on exploiting the studio's catalog of titles through distribution deals with the likes of Hulu and Netflix. It is interested in maximizing revenue from its film library and not concerned with creating new films.

LoveFilm is available on the PC, Mac or via Sony's Playstation3, Microsoft's Xbox 360, Apple's iPad and Internet-connected TV sets and Blu-ray players.
