Miramax Intends to Refinance Debt

Its film library includes movies like “Pulp Fiction” and “No Country for Old Men”

Miramax announced Friday it will refinance its outstanding debt with an asset-backed securitization involving its film library.

The studio is attempting to finish the securitization in the fourth quarter of 2011, but given that the move is subject to changes in the market and other outside conditions, there is no guarantee it will occur on the terms Miramax hopes for.

Miramax’s library includes films such as “Pulp Fiction,” “Good Will Hunting” and “No Country for Old Men.”

Many of those titles have become available to viewers on platforms like Hulu and Facebook within the past few months.

This year, the company has had two releases – “The Debt” and “Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark.”
