Mitt Romney Lands Endorsement from Jeff Foxworthy in Alabama

GOP presidential frontrunner Mitt Romney lands endorsement from redneck comedian Jeff Foxworthy in Alabama

You might be way out of your element campaigning in deep red states if … you welcome Southern-fried comedian Jeff Foxworthy’s endorsement.

Foxworthy, who came to fame with his “you might be a redneck if” routine, threw his support behind Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney in Alabama Monday.

It was the first of a series of appearances designed to bolster Romney’s conservative credentials before Mississippi and Alabama voters go to the polls in the Republican primary Tuesday.

Romney, who grew up in Michigan and is the former governor of Massachusetts, does not exactly exude “good ol’ boy." Foxworthy, an Atlanta native, is a longtime supporter of Republican politicians.

Romney recently made an awkward attempt to court southern favor by uttering “y’all” and professing a love of grits.

According CNN, Foxworthy told Romney, “I gotta spend a day with you and teach you how to speak Southern a little bit.”

The comedian then went on to say, “We don’t elect presidents on personality. We did that in 2008.”
