‘Monday Night Football’ Blackout: Watch the Lights Go Out in Candlestick Park (Video)

Blackouts delay Steelers-49ers game twice

Blackouts at San Francisco's Candlestick Park delayed the "Monday Night Football" game between the Pittsburgh Steelers and San Francisco 49ers not, once but twice.

The first blackout delayed the kickoff by 20 minutes. Another in the second quarter delayed the game by about 17 minutes. Authorities blamed a downed power line for the blackout, which left fans sitting in darkness inside the stadium. The game aired on ESPN.

Police were also investigating a bomb threat during the game, but found nothing suspicious, ABC News reported.

Of course, it may all have been a psych-out tactic by the 49ers: They beat the Steelers, who usually play in stadiums with lights, 20-3.
