“Morning Joe” host Joe Scarborough said on Tuesday that President Donald Trump didn’t think he would actually win the election, accusing his winning campaign of simply being “a money-making scam.”
Scarborough, who has gone from Trump alley to one of his staunchest critics, recently told TheWrap the only way the president cold repair their relationship would be to resign.
“He thought Jeb Bush was going to beat him…he was going to take the money and run,” Scarborough said on Tuesday’s show. “This was all a money-making scam.”
The segment started with “Morning Joe” discussing a recent Washington Post report that Trump’s associates communicated directly with Russia during the campaign. Scarborough mocked Trump over the article, saying it always feels like Trump and his team can’t get any dumber.
Guest Mark Halperin credited “branding” and noted said that Trump simply wanted to build a tower in Moscow.
