‘Morning Joe’: Paul Ryan Should Retreat to a ‘Dark Basement in Janesville’ Over DACA

Joe Scarborough did not hold back on the Trump administration’s decision to phase out DACA

“Morning Joe” host Joe Scarborough held nothing back Wednesday as he took on the news of the week: the Trump administration’s decision to phase out the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program Tuesday.

Scarborough voiced his annoyance that Congressional leaders spend too much time on Twitter instead of taking real action. He quickly turned his attention to Speaker of the House Paul Ryan and the rest of the GOP leadership, who he said should go to “a dark basement in Janesville.”

“They do not have the votes, Congressman,” said contributor Mark Halperin. “They need a president to help them get the votes. They can’t do it on their own.”

“If they’re not smart enough to be able to pass this and say I’m not with Nancy Pelosi, I’m with 75% of the American people, then they really don’t deserve to be in their position,” said Scarborough, arguing that there will be plenty of “yes” votes for DACA. “They should go into a dark basement in Janesville and tweet for the rest of their life. This is not hard. I’m not with Nancy Pelosi my friends of Janesville, Wisconsin.”

“This really is not hard,” he said.
