‘Morning Joe’ Says Americans ‘Can Safely Assume the Worst of Donald Trump’ (Video)

“Because of what Donald Trump has done in the past, reporters, foreign policy analysts and our allies can safely assume the worst,” Joe Scarborough says

MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” opened Wednesday’s show saying Americans can “assume the worst” about a meeting between President Trump and Vladimir Putin that took place after a dinner at the recent G20 Summit. The previously unannounced meeting was reported late Tuesday.

“Because of what Donald Trump has done in the past, reporters, foreign policy analysts and our allies can safely assume the worst. They can safely assume the worst of Donald Trump,” Joe Scarborough said.

“They can safely assume the worst of Vladimir Putin. Because in the last meeting Donald Trump had with Russians before Putin, he was talking to their foreign minister and their ambassador to the U.S,” Scarborough continued. “He was talking about firing James Comey and saying that he’s gotten the pressure off everybody because he had fired the nutcase who was investigating Donald Trump’s possible illegal ties with Russia. So what are we to assume if not the worst.”

Scarborough called Trump’s relationship with Putin “abnormal” and criticized the president for speaking to the Russian leader without another American present.

On Tuesday evening, it was reported that Trump met with Putin for an hour in addition to the highly anticipated, planned meeting that occurred in Hamburg, Germany during the G20 Summit.

Trump responded to the media reports with a pair of tweets, downplaying the meeting and slamming the “fake news story” on Tuesday night.

Trump wrote, “Fake News story of secret dinner with Putin is “sick.” All G 20 leaders, and spouses, were invited by the Chancellor of Germany. Press knew!”

The president sent a follow-up tweet moments later, “The Fake News is becoming more and more dishonest! Even a dinner arranged for top 20 leaders in Germany is made to look sinister!”
