Paul Giamatti starrer will screen Oct. 7
"Barney's Version" will open the 18th Hamptons International Film Festival on Oct. 7, fest organizers said Thursday.
The Sony Pictures Classics release stars Paul Giamatti in the title role, with Dustin Hoffman, Rosamund Pike, Minnie Driver, Rachelle Lefevre, Scott Speedman, and Bruce Greenwood. The film was directed by Richard J. Lewis and produced by Robert Lantos, based on the Morecai Richler novel.
"We are so excited to open our 18th edition with a film as moving and powerful as 'Barney's Version,'" said festival executive director Karen Arikian.
"Barney's Version" is also screening in the Venice and Toronto festivals. Sony Classics picked up rights to the pic Wednesday.
The Hamptons fest runs Oct. 7-11.
