The documentary "Sins of My Father" has snared a wide release in Colombia, riding a wave of press coverage of the film about the son of drug lord Pablo Escobar. Cine Colombia will release it Dec. 10 in Colombia on 20 prints, the widest ever for a documentary in the country, where even bigger titles usually only manage one print.

The reason: the subject matter:

The film follows Juan Pablo Escobar as he tells the story of his father, whose drug trafficking operation made him a rich man and ushered in a wave of murders before he was killed in a gunfight. In "Sins," his son writes letters of apology to the sons of his fathers' victims, and then takes the messages to them in person.
