India's Reliance Expands 3D Services

India's Reliance MediaWorks has announced the expansion of its 3D services business as it attempts to become a global vendor covering all aspects of production and touting a global team of over 400 3D artists.

In the U.S., for example, Reliance MediaWorks Burbank -- which was formerly Lowry Digital before its acquisition by Reliance in 2008 -- can now handle 3D conversion, alignment issues, image and detail enhancements, grain and noise management, and on-set consulting. 

"It's a fairly robust opportunity for the next couple of years at least," said Reliance CEO Anil Arjun, noting that he expects clients to soon emerge in the realm of 3D television
