Warner Bros. has snapped up “True Skin,” a science fiction short that sent Hollywood studios and producers in hot pursuit since its debut online a week ago, two individuals with knowledge of the deal told TheWrap.
Stephan Zlotescu, a music-video director for Lady Gaga, Kanye West and Beyonce, directed the short. Set in the near future, it depicts a world in which humans undergo procedures to improve their bodies with doctors replacing body parts with mechanized pieces.
The main character travels to Bangkok to pay a cheaper fee on the black market, but when seedy characters discover that the man is turning into a robot, they begin pursuit.
Chris Sewall, who produced the short, will co-produce.
Warner Bros. was attracted to the high-level concept of the film, which should have a male lead and plenty of action. The studio is unlikely to give the first-time director the budget of a major summer tentpole.
Heyman, who worked on every "Harry Potter" film, has a number of projects in the offing, the most immnient being Alfonso Cuaron's "Gravity."
