Breathe easy (or take cover), Angelenos: Lindsay Lohan is a free woman once again.

The "Mean Girls" actress was released from house arrest on Wednesday after serving her five-week sentence, the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department confirmed to TheWrap.

A department spokesman tells TheWrap that monitoring devices were removed from Lohan's person at her home at 9:20 a.m., and she was officially released from the department's system an hour later.

Lohan had originally been sentenced to 120 days' jail time in May after pleading guilty to stealing a necklace from a Venice, Calif. boutique. However, due to overcrowding issues, the actress -- who turns 25 on July 2 -- was eventually given five weeks house arrest.

According to the Sheriff's Department spokesman, Lohan was cooperative during the process.

Lohan isn't completely in the clear yet; she must still complete the 480 hours of community service she was sentenced to as a result of violating the probation stemming from her DUI arrests by stealing the necklace.

Lohan's representative did not immediately respond to TheWrap's response for comment.
