“The Avengers” and “Silver Linings Playbook” won big Sunday night at the MTV Movie Awards, each scoring three golden popcorn awards. Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper also took home top honors for their lead performances in “Playbook.” Three-peat best female performance winner Jennifer Lawrence didn’t attend the awards, but still set the internet abuzz when the first footage featuring her character Katniss was unveiled during the telecast by “Hunger Games” co-star Liam Hemsworth. The evening — full of its usual brand of MTV laughs and zaniness — was hosted by “Pitch Perfect” star Rebel Wilson, who opened the show with a medley of hits that included Eminem’s “Lose Yourself,” Alicia Keys’ “Girl on Fire” and Miley Cyrus’ “The Climb.”

Brad Pitt was on hand to present the movie of the year award to Marvel’s “The Avengers,” while Jamie Foxx received the special generation award from “Django Unchained” co-star Kerry Washington.

Other highlights included host Rebel Wilson picking up the award for breakthrough performance, Will Ferrell receiving the comedic genius award from “Games of Thrones” star Peter Dinklage and Emma Watson snagging the trailblazer award for “The Perks of Being a Wallflower.” Meanwhile, the awards’ inaugural best shirtless performance honor went to none other then “Twilight: Breaking Dawn” star Taylor Lautner.
