Paramount has announced a May 11, 2012 release date for Sacha Baron Cohen's next film,  "The Dictator," and that director Larry Charles will once again be working with the satirist.

The studio also announced the first-time collaboration between Cohen and Scott Rudin, who has come aboard to produce the project.

Inspired by the best-selling Iraqi romance novel "Zabibah and the The King" -- which was purportedly written by Saddam Hussein himself -- the film is about a "heroic" dictator who works to keep democracy out of the country he lovingly oppresses.

Cohen is producing the project alongside Rudin, Alec Berg, Jeff Schaffer and David Mandel.

Charles previously directed Cohen's "Borat" and "Bruno."
