Weak competition enabled “Percy Jackson & The Lightning Thief” and “Hot Tub Time Machine” to hold onto to their perches atop the DVD sales and rental charts respectively.

Box officer under-whelmer “Brooklyn’s Finest” also took advantage of the anemic offerings to claim the number two spot on both charts, according to Rentrak.

The week’s other notable DVD debut, Tom Ford’s Oscar-nominated directing debut “A Single Man,” failed to crack the top ten list on either score. In its sixteenth week of release, “The Twilight Saga: New Moon” remained among the week’s top selling DVDs. Of course, the ubiquitous print and television advertisements for “Eclipse” undoubtedly helped to goose sales of the disc.

This week brings the release of the Jennifer Aniston and Gerard Butler romantic comedy “The Bounty Hunter” and the Noah Baumbach dramedy “Greenberg,” neither of which were hits at the box office, though the latter did receive some critical attention.
