The world is going wild over "Harry."
"Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" had the biggest ever five-day launch overseas with $237 million over it first five days. Domestically, the sixth installment reached $160 million.
The previous overseas champ was Disney's "Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End," which opened May 23, 2007, and grossed $218 million in its first five days.
The B.O. benchmark for "Harry Potter" films is still the series' first title, "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone," which got to $975 million worldwide ($657 million from abroad.)
While "Harry Potter" was soaring, "Bruno" was just surviving. While the raunchy comedy is set to hit the $100 million mark overseas this week, the mojo is definitely different than that of Sacha Baron Cohen's "Borat."
"Bruno" dropped to $10.6 million over the weekend in 30 territories, just one week after having launched with $25 million. Its overseas total is $46 million with the domestic gross standing at 49.6 million.
DreamWorks/Paramount's "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" brought in another $15.3 over the weekend from 63 markets. That brings the total to $398 million after four weekends. The original, in 2007, grossed $389 million overseas.
Other players: "Public Enemies' " overseas total now stands at $24.1 million, while Disney's "The Proposal" brought its overseas total to $48.1 million.
