"Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" dropped a steep 64% overseas in its second week but still retained the international B.O. crown.
The sixth entry in the Warner Bros. franchise grossed another $84.4 million from 64 territories. Its overseas total now stands at $405.3 million, while the worldwide total is $627.2 million after just 12 days of release.
This time out, "Prince" opened in Poland and Argentina, where the respective takes were $1.9 million and $2 million, but repeat sessions in Germany ($9.3 million), France ($9 million) and the U.K. ($8.3 million) all continued to provide huge numbers.
Finishing second was Fox's "Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs," which grossed another $40.6 million from 102 markets. That makes the sequel 2009's biggest grosser internationally with a total of $505.4 million. $171 million of that is the domestic gross.
"The Hangover" came in third and is showing amazing staying power for a summer comedy overseas. It's weekend take: $10.2 million from 37 territories, which brings its cumulative overseas gross to $98.5 million.
"Public Enemies" rung up another $9.6 million from 33 territories; and fifth went to DreamWorks/Paramount's "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen," which grossed $7.5 million from 63 territories.
The Michael Bay sequel's foreign total now stands at $413.2 million; the original grossed $389 million overseas.
