Italia Film will distribute the studio's upcoming slate of films in select territories
Italia Film will distribute Solar Pictures' films in the Middle East and other countries including Turkey, Greece and India under a new multi-year, multi-territory output deal announced Wednesday before the start of the Berlin Film Festival.
Italia is one of the largest distributors in the Middle East, and has been Disney’s exclusive distributor in the region since 1993.
Solar Pictures, a film production and finance company, is a subsidiary of Solar Entertainment, Bobby Paunescu (left) and Jared Underwood’s multi-faceted entertainment company. It also operates Solar Media Capital, a financing company, and Solar Entertainment HLB, an investment bank and financial advisory firm.
Launched in March, Solar Pictures has yet to complete production on a movie, but it unveiled its first slate of genre films in October.
“This is an important strategic partnership for Solar and a key first step in our quest to solidify distribution partnerships in territories worldwide as we expand our slate,” Solar CEO Christopher Taylor said in a statement.
