The buddy comedy, written by and starring Brian Drolet, is about a college basketball star who blows out his knee
In Barry Katz's world, a blown-out knee is funny.
Katz, who heads New Wave Entertainment's talent management division, is producing "Dumbbells," a buddy comedy about a college basketball star who blows out his knee and gets a job working at a dumpy Los Angeles gym.
The basketball player, who has NBA dreams, learns the true meaning of life at the gym.
Brian Drolet (MTV's "Disaster Date," "2 Dudes and a Dream") wrote the movie and stars. Hoyt Richards ("The Disciple") also stars.
"Hit and Runway's" Chris Livingston is directing.
Travus Pope, Jordan Eubanks and Josh Goldstein also are producing.
Katz produced the 2008 "My Best Friend's Girl."
