Focus Features, which has reportedly been circling Mike Mills' film "Beginners" for the last several days, has concluded negotiations on the final day of the festival, and will distribute the film worldwide.

According to Deadline, Focus bested five other offers to land the film, which stars Christopher Plummer as a father who in his 70s drops a bombshell on his son (Ewan McGregor) when he announces that he's gay. Mills previous film was "Thumbsucker."

Christopher Plummer and Ewan McGregor"Beginners" received largely positive reviews after its Toronto debut. Chris Bilton from Eye Weekly called it "both stylish and realistic, heartbreaking and hilarious, and delivered with a tender consistency bolstered by thoughtful performances that are sure to earn more than a few Oscar nominations."

This is Focus Features' first Toronto acquisition.
