Ira Rubenstein is joining 20th Century Fox as executive VP, digital marketing, the company announced Thursday.

He joins the company May 23.

Rubenstein is the former executive VP, global digital media group at Marvel Entertainment.

While Rubenstein was at Marvel, the company closed deals with a number of app, videogame and media companies, including offering Marvel comics on iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch, among others. Rubenstein expanded Marvel's digital subscription service, helped form the Marvel Digital Video channels on Netflix, YouTube, iTunes, Hulu, Xbox LIVE and the PlayStation Network. He also ratcheted up Marvel's presence on Facebook and Twitter.

He is former executive VP, content strategy and acquisitions for Sony Corp. of America and former executive VP, Sony Pictures Digital Entertainment.

At Fox -- where he began his career as manager of film research and new media -- he'll oversee all digital marketing activities for the domestic marketing group and will report to Chief Creative Officer Tony Sella.
