The first trailer of the "Hunger Games" sequel focuses on President Snow and Plutarch Heavensbee plotting Katniss Everdeen's death
"The Hunger Games: Catching Fire" trailer debuted during the MTV Movie Awards on Sunday night teasing President Snow's burning desire for Katniss Everdeen's death — and Plutarch Heavensbee, played by Philip Seymour Hoffman, agrees she has to go.
The sequel to Lionsgate's 2012 smash hit follows Hunger Games victors Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence) and Peeta (Josh Hutcherson) as they embark on a "Victor's Tour" throughout the twelve districts of Panem. But with the nation on the heels of a revolution, Snow (Donald Sutherland) wants to make an example out of the winning tribute who is inspiring it.
"She has become a beacon of hope for them," Snow says. "She has to be eliminated."
"I agree she should die," Heavensbee adds. "But at the right time. In the right way."
Katniss has a dangerous victory parade ahead of her when "Catching Fire" hits theaters on Nov. 22. Watch the first teaser trailer:
