Philip Seymour Hoffman, Rachel McAdams and Robin Wright will star in the film version of John Le Carré's spy novel
Demarest Films has signed on to co-finance and co-produce Anton Corbijn’s “A Most Wanted Man,” which will star Philip Seymour Hoffman, Rachel McAdams and Robin Wright, the company announced Thursday.
Andrew Bovell is writing the film, which is based on the spy novel of the same name by John le Carré. Gail Egan and Andrea Calderwood of Potboiler Productions are producing alongside Stephen and Simon Cornwell from Ink Factory.
FilmNation Entertainment is handling domestic and international sales at the Toronto International Film Festival this week.
“A Most Wanted Man” takes place in present-day Hamburg. A half-Chechen, half-Russian man, scarred from torture, surfaces in the city’s Islamic community on the run and desperate for help. He seeks to recover his late Russian father’s fortune and soon connects with a conflicted British private banker and a young female lawyer crusading to protect the rights of persecuted immigrants.
Demarest recently partnered with IM Global and Reliance Big Entertainment to co-finance and co-produce “Paranoia,” the high-tech corporate espionage thriller directed by Robert Luketic. Principal photography is underway on the film. IM Global is handling international distribution.
Demarest has completed several other pictures, including Neil Jordan’s “Byzantium,” which is premiering in Toronto.
