Eric Bana, Emile Hirsch and Taylor Kitsch also star as members of the SEAL team tasked with capturing Taliban leader Ahmad Shahd
Mark Wahlberg leads a strong cast against an army of Taliban soldiers in the first trailer for "Lone Survivor."
The military drama from writer and director Peter Berg ("Battleship") chronicles a failed mission, called "Operation Red Wings," during which four members of SEAL Team 10 were supposed to capture or kill notorious Taliban leader Ahmad Shahd.
The mission did not go well, and Marcus Luttrell (Wahlberg) was the only member of the team that survived. Taylor Kitsch, Emile Hirsch and Ben Foster portray the soldiers who weren't so lucky.
In the trailer, the mission starts to go downhill when the four capture an Afghan goat farmer and have to decide to either kill the innocent boy or let him go — an option that could lead to an army of 200 Taliban soldiers being alerted to their presence. Despite the risk and unfortunate consequences, they choose option B.
Alexander Ludwig ("The Hunger Games"), Eric Bana ("Hulk") and Jerry Ferrara ("Entourage") co-star in the thriller hitting theaters early next year on Jan. 10.
