Slapped with an NC-17 rating, the Matthew McConaughey crime thriller "Killer Joe" offers a sanitized sneak peek
Matthew McConaughey and Emile Hirsch's upcoming drama "Killer Joe" might have been deemed nasty enough for an NC-17 rating by the MPAA, but that doesn't mean it can't clean up nicely.
The green-band trailer for the crime thriller, which is slated for release June 27, has been released, offering a sanitized glimpse of the violent big-screen proceedings to come.
The William Friedkin-directed film, based on the Tracy Lets play, stars McConaughey as Killer Joe Cooper, a soft-spoken type with murderous tendencies who befriends a young man who, quite conveniently, wants his mother knocked off for insurance money. Juno Temple and Gina Gershon also star.
