Chronic Oscar nominee and screen legend Meryl Streep is in final negotiations to star in "Great Hope Springs," the film's producer Mandate Pictures announced on Tuesday.

That's good news for "The Devil Wears Prada" fans.

The comedy will be overseen by David Frankel, the director who helped Streep create her withering fashion magazine editor Miranda Priestly character.

"Great Hope Springs" was named to the Black List, an annual listing of the best unproduced scripts. It centers on a middle aged couple who after thirty years together attend a counseling weekend to deal with intimacy issues. Vanessa Taylor wrote the screenplay.

In addition to "Devil," Frankel directed "Marley & Me." As for Streep, she's appeared in such obscure films as "Out of Africa," "Sophie's Choice" and "The Deer Hunter." She's slated to appear opposite Julia Roberts in "August: Osage County" and as Margaret Thatcher in "The Iron Lady."

Production on the movie will begin in August 2011. Mandate will finance with Lionsgate handling international sales.

Guymon Casady of Film 360, the feature film production entity of Management 360, and Todd Black for his Escape Artists banner will produce. Mandate president Nathan Kahane, Escape Artists’ Jason Blumenthal and Steve Tisch will executive produce. Mandate’s Lawrence Grey will co-produce. Escape Artists’ Chris Coggins and Lance Johnson will serve as associate producers.
