MIchael Vollman, MGM's marketing chief, has decided not to renew his contract with the studio.

He'll leave when his contract expires Aug. 15.

An individual close to the studio told TheWrap that Vollman, who's been at MGM since 2008, didn't feel like the newly restructured studio was the right fit for him.

MGM had been outsourcing much of its marketing while it building its television assets. And for the most part, MGM co-finances movies that other studios distribute.

In a written statement, the studio's co-chairs and co-CEOs, Gary Barber and Roger Birnbaum, said, “Michael Vollman is a great executive. We could not have gotten through this enormous transition over the past seven months without his clarity, his guidance and his commitment. We love him and while his contract is ending, we are confident that our paths will cross again."

Vollman formerly served as executive VP, integrated marketing and national publicity at Paramount Pictures.
