Actress would join the actor in Adam Shankman's adaptation of the Broadway musical for New Line
Amy Adams is eyeing a role in "Rock of Ages," TheWrap has confirmed.
The actress is circling a role as journalist in the musical adaptation starring Tom Cruise, an individual with knowledge of the movie told TheWrap.
It's early though: There's no offer yet.
"Rock of Ages" is a major project for New Line and director Adam Shankman. Julianne Hough, Mary J. Blige and Alec Baldwin have also been cast in the adaptation of the Broadway musical, scheduled for a June 1 release next year.
The movie is a love story told through the music of Pat Benetar, Bon Jovi, Journey, Poison, Twisted Singer and other '80s artists. Cruise, who plays the rocker Stacee Jaxx, will sing the Bon Jovi anthem "Dead or Alive."
Adams would portray a journalist that is seduced by Cruise's character.
This Saturday, the studio is holding an open casting call for an 18-to25-year-old man who can sing like a rock star at Central Casting in Burbank.
Chris D'Arienzo, Michael Arndt and Alan Loeb are writing the adaptation and Jennifer Gibgot, Carl Levin, Tobey Maguire, Scott Prisand and Matt Weaver are producing.
