Riley Keough ("The Runaways") is in talks to play one of the Five Wives in George Miller's "Fury Road," the fourth film in the "Mad Max" franchise, the actress' representation at WME has confirmed to TheWrap.
Tom Hardy ("Inception") takes over the star-making role from Mel Gibson, and the film takes place shortly after the events depicted in 1985's "Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome," though plot details are being kept under wraps for now.
The Five Wives are a group of women who Mad Max must protect from the villains. Teresa Palmer, Zoe Kravitz and Adelaide Clemens play three of the other wives.
Charlize Theron and Nicholas Hoult co-star, and in addition to writing and directing, Miller is also producing with Doug Mitchell.
Keough's parents are musician-actor Danny Keough and Lisa Marie Presley, which makes her the granddaughter of Elvis Presley. She began modeling at age 14 and made her film debut earlier this year as Cherie Currie's sister in "The Runaways."
The striking-looking actress recently wrapped "The Good Doctor" with Orlando Bloom, and will soon star opposite Juno Temple and Kylie Minogue in "Jack and Diane," the indie romance commonly referred to as the "lesbian werewolf movie." Both films will premiere next year.
Production on "Fury Road" was recently delayed (reportedly to allow Miller time to develop new 3D technology) and is now expected to begin early next year. It's been rumored that Miller will shoot a sequel titled "Furiosa" back-to-back, to be released shortly after "Fury Road."
