Two-time Oscar winner Robert De Niro and three-time Oscar nominee Sigourney Weaver are attached to star in "Red Lights," a psychological thriller from "Buried" director Rodrigo Cortes, reports Variety.

Weaver will play a psychologist whose study of paranormal activity leads her to investigate a world-renowned psychic (De Niro).

I like the pairing of these two veteran stars, but the jury (i.e. me) is still out on Cortes, whose first film was excruciating to watch. While I recognize the talent it takes to direct a 90-minute thriller starring one (comedic) actor inside of a coffin for the entire running time, the movie definitely did not work, at least for this viewer. Cortes may have chops behind the camera but until he proves he can tell a compelling story, I remain skeptical that he's the next big filmmaker to watch.

Cortes wrote the "Red Lights" script and will produce with Versus Entertainment's Adrian Guerra.

Versus is financing the project along with Parlay Films and Cindy Cowan and Soo Mi Kim's CSe Entertainment, as well as Korea's Blue Storm Prods.

Parlay's Lisa Wilson will exec produce with Cowan and Blue Storm's Y.K. Bae.

Production is scheduled to begin in February in both Spain and Canada, and Parlay will be selling the project at AFM next month.

De Niro can currently be seen opposite Edward Norton in "Stone." He next stars in Universal's "Little Fockers" and opposite Bradley Cooper in "The Dark Fields."

Weaver is currently shooting Amy Heckerling's "Vamps," which reunites the director with her "Clueless" star Alicia Silverstone. She recently wrapped the Lionsgate thriller "Abduction" and will soon be seen in Greg Mottola's Universal comedy "Paul."

De Niro is represented by CAA, while UTA reps Weaver and Cortes.
