"Snow White and the Huntsman" may have its prince: British actor Sam Claflin.

The 24-year-old who plays Philip in Disney's upcoming "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides," is in final negotiations with Universal for its "Snow White and the Huntsman," TheWrap has confirmed.

Kristen Stewart is set to play Snow White in Rupert Sanders's version of the fairy tale. Charlize Theron is the evil queen.

The part of the Huntsman, though, is up for grabs. The studio has been having a terrible time casting the role.

Universal wanted Viggo Mortensen for the role, but it didn't work out. Then it was Hugh Jackman. That fell apart, too.

As the name implies, the Huntsman is a pivotal role. The adaptation of the public-domain fairy tale is focused on the Huntsman, a character who is supposed to kill Snow White, but who ends up protecting her, mentoring her and teaching her how to fight and survive.

The movie is slated for release Dec. 21, 2012.

Claflin is repped by CAA and by London's Independent Talent Group.
