Shout! Nabs U.S. Rights to Luc Besson Dinosaur Drama, CG-Animated ‘A Monster in Paris’

"The Extraordinary Adventures of Adele Blanc-Sec" stars Mathieu Amalric and "A Monster in Paris," an animated film from the director of "Shark Tale"

Shout! Factory has nabbed U.S. distribution rights to a pair of monster movies with a French twist. 

The company has secured home entertainment, digital and broadcast rights to the CG-animated "A Monster in Paris" (left) and "The Extraordinary Adventures of Adele Blanc-Sec," a dinosaur themed action film from the director of "The Fifth Element."

Shout! said "A Monster in Paris" will hit the U.S home entertainment marketplace and a variety of digital entertainment platforms in early 2013. It did not give a stateside release date for "The Extraordinary Adventures of Adele Blanc-Sec," but a spokesman for the company said it would debut domestically next year.

"A Monster in Paris" was directed by Bibo Bergeron ("Shark Tale") and boasts a voice cast that includes Vanessa Paradis, Sean Lennon, Adam Goldberg, Danny Huston, Bob Balaban and Catherine O’Hara. It centers on a pet monkey who unwittingly creates a monsters when he  spills a magical concoction that he finds on a common flea in a mad scientist's laboratory.

"The Extraordinary Adventures of Adele Blanc-Sec" is adapted from a French-Belgian comic book series by graphic novelist Jacques Tardi and is directed and produced by Luc Besson ("The Fifth Element"). This live-action adventure stars Mathieu Amalric, who memorably starred in "The Diving Bell and the Butterfly" and played a Bond villain in "Quantum of Solace."

Set in Paris circa 1913, the film kicks off after a 136-million-year old pterodactyl egg on display in a natural history museum mysteriously hatches, unleashing the scaly beast on the city.
