Sony has tapped the acclaimed actors for two of its high-profile projects
Sony has tapped a pair of acclaimed actors to star in two of its high-profile projects: Oscar winner Emma Thompson is in negotiations to join the cast of "Men in Black 3," while Christopher Plummer has been cast in the English-language remake of "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo," the studio has confirmed to TheWrap.
It's funny, just the other day, I was telling a friend, "you know what 'MIB 3' needs? Emma Thompson!"
Plummer will play a wealthy industrialist who hires the duo to investigate a murder that has gone unsolved for 40 years. His family has plenty of dark secrets, which the heroes threaten to unveil as they plunge deeper into the dangerous case.
Plummer was last seen in "The Last Station" and "The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus." The Oscar-nominated actor previously voiced the villain in Disney/Pixar's "Up," and he'll soon appear alongside Paul Bettany and "True Blood" star Stephen Moyer in Screen Gems' vampire flick "Priest."
Thompson most recently starred in "Nanny McPhee Returns," and is set to reprise her role as Sybill Trelawney in "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2."
Thompson is represented by WME, while ICM and the Pitt Group represent Plummer.
