Indomina and BET Acquire Sundance Crime Drama 'LUV'

The movie is writer-director Aurora Guerrero's first feature film.
Fenessa Pineda stars as Yolanda, a straight-A student in Los Angeles' Huntington Park. Venecia Troncoso plays Mari, Yolanda's study partner -- a girl who has recently moved to town with her undocumented family.
Wolfe is the largest distributor of gay and lesbian films.

The Indomina Group has acquired worldwide rights to Ice-T’s documentary “Something From Nothing: The Art of Rap,” the company said Sunday.
The sales price was not disclosed.

In the performance movie, Ice-T travels across the country, working with Afrika Bambaataa, Grandmaster Caz, Nas, Mos Def, Eminem, Chuck D, KRS-One, Run-DMC, Dr. Dre, Ice Cube and Snoop Dogg.
The movie, which Ice-T directed with Andy Baybutt, is a personal story of the music that saved Ice-T’s life.

The Weinstein Company has made its first and only acquisition of this year's Sundance Film Festival, acquiring "Lay the Favorite" for VOD, the company confirmed.
The movie, by British director Stephen Frears, stars Rebecca Hall as a stripper turned numbers bookie. The film received decidedly mixed reviews at the festival.

In an unusually busy deal-making Saturday, Magnolia has also acquired Julie Delpy’s “2 Days In New York,” the director-actress's follow-up to “2 Days in Paris."
Starring Delpy and with Chris Rock playing the straight man, the pair play a Manhattanite couple with two kids who have to endure a two-day visit from relatives that will test their relationship.
Delpy's father is played by her real-life father. Other characters include her oversexed sister and her sister’s outrageous boyfriend.
Magnolia will release the film through its Ultra VOD program later this year, with a "robust theatrical release" in major...
