A look back, in pictures, at the five-plus-year marriage of Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes
Tom Cruise famously proposed to Katie Holmes atop the Eiffel Tower in June 2005. The power couple married in Italy in 2006 but their five-year union -- practically a lifetime in Hollywood years -- lasted until Holmes suddenly filed for divorce on June 29, 2012. Here's a photographic trip spanning from courtship through their couch-jumping, Suri-toting, red-carpet-cuddling, TomKatting years.

In April 2005, the new couple cozied up in Italy, where they would marry a year and a half later.
Solidly established as TomKat, Holmes and Cruise arrive at the premiere of “Batman Begins,” in which Holmes co-starred, at Grauman’s Chinese Theatre in Hollywood on June 6, 2005.
The newly engaged couple give onlookers quite a show on the red carpet at the "War of the Worlds" premiere on June 23, 2005.
After more than a year of dating – and a baby, daughter Suri – Cruise and Holmes wed on Nov. 18, 2006 in Bracciano, Italy.
TomKat were all smiles at the "Lions for Lambs" Berlin premiere in October 2007.
In 2008, Tom and Katie were all smiles as they left their New York City hotel with daughter, Suri, a few months before her second birthday.
The couple, photographed here in January 2009 at the British premiere of Cruise's film "Valkyrie," drew attention from celebrity tabloids regarding his controversial Scientology beliefs.
