Sylvester Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Kristen Stewart and Tim Burton were among the big stars who helped kick off Comic-Con 2012 with a bang.

The annual San Diego-based geek confab has become a major launching pad for movies and shows. Films featured on its first day included "The Expendables 2," "Lone Ranger" and "Oz, the Great and Powerful."

Tween hearts melted as Stewart, Taylor Lautner, and Robert Pattinson gathered together in Hall H for one final hurrah: their upcoming "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn -- Part 2," ends one of Hollywood's biggest franchises.

TheWrap will be at Comic-Con throughout the festival, giving you up-to-the-minute updates to satisfy your inner geek.

Here's a look at the stars, costumes and outrageous atmosphere from this year's Comic-Con.
