Vera Farmiga Enters Ryan Reynolds’ ‘Safe House’

Denzel Washington also stars in Universal’s thriller about a CIA agent who must get a criminal to Washington after his safe house is attacked

Vera Farmiga has joined the cast of “Safe House,” Universal’s upcoming CIA thriller, TheWrap has confirmed.

Farmiga, who was nominated for the best supporting actress Oscar for 2009’s “Up in the Air,” joins Denzel Washington, Ryan Reynolds, Ruben Blades, Liam Cunningham, Brendan Gleeson, Robert Patrick and  Sam Shepard.

Daniel Espinosa is directing the Universal film about a CIA agent (Reynolds) whose safe house is attacked and must protect a criminal (Washington) from assassins and get him safely to Washington.

Farmiga will play a CIA officer who is in charge of Reynolds’s character.

David Guggenheim wrote the movie. Scott Stuber is producing through his Universal-based Stuber Pictures. Trevor Macy and Marc D. Evans are executive producing through their Intrepid Pictures.

Farmiga is repped by CAA.
