MovieTickets.com Adds AMC Theaters to Advance Sale Offerings

Pact comes in the wake of the settlement of a 2012 suit filed after the theater chain cut a similar deal with rival Fandango

MovieTickets.com has added AMC Theaters to the list of venues for which it offers advance box-office sales.

The online ticket broker said Tuesday that the partnership with AMC, which operates 342 theaters, has increased its screen count by 4,950 to more than 22,000.

The way for the deal was cleared this fall, when the two sides settled a suit filed in February 2012 that charged AMC had violated terms of an earlier agreement between the two firms by making a deal with MovieTickets’ rival Fandango. Both firms will now sell AMC tickets.

Prior to 2012, MovieTickets.com provided online ticketing for AMC Theaters except those originally part of the Loews Cineplex Entertainment, whose online ticketing is provided by Fandango due to contractual obligations in place prior to the 2005 merger of the two movie chains.
