MSNBC Names Lauren Skowronski VP of Media Relations

She will serve as the company's chief spokeswoman

MSNBC has named Lauren Skowronski as vice president of media relations amid an effort to rebrand the channel's digital presence, the company announced Monday.

Skowronski will manage internal and external communications for the network, including program publicity and overall media stategy and will serve as the chief spokeswoman for the network.

"I'm thrilled to add Lauren to the MSNBC executive team as we continue to grow the network," MSNBC President Phil Griffin said in a statement. "Lauren gets MSNBC. She's creative, a strategic thinker, whose prove track record has earned the trust and respect of our talent and management."

MSNBC.com renamed itself NBCNews.com last week after Comcast bought out Microsoft's share of it for $300 million. MSNBC is expected to launch a new website early next year featuring more of the soft-news content from the cable channel.

For the past three years, Skowronski served as the director of MSNBC Media Relations, managing publicity for "Way Too Early with Willie Geist," "Morning Joe," "The Rachel Maddow Show" and "The Last Word with Lawrence O'Donnell."

Previously, she spent four years in various roles in the communications department for NBC News, including assignments on "NBC Nightly News," "Meet the Press," "Dateline," "Today,"  and various digital properties. 

A graduate of Syracuse University, Skowronski started as an NBC Page and worked her way up the ranks. She lives in New York City.
