MTV Launches Late-Night Comedy Show With ‘You Had to Be There’ Duo

"The Nikki and Sara Show" will premiere later this year

MTV is is launching a new late-night comedy series from Nikki Glaser and Sara Schaefer, the duo behind the comedy podcast "You Had to Be There," the network said Thursday.

The series, titled "The Nikki and Sara Show," will "combine fast-paced jokes, celebrity interviews, pre-taped sketches, man-on-the-street pieces and more," the network said, and will be set in MTV Studios in Times Square.

Promising that the show will deliver "something fresh and different in late night," MTV's head of programming David Janollari added that Glaser and Schaefer are " funny and smart with a little edge sprinkled throughout – just the right fit for the time slot and our audience.”

In addition to "You Had to Be There," Glaser has participated in the reality competition show "Last Comic Standing," where she advanced to the semi-finals. Schaefer has won two Emmy Awards for her work as head blogger on "Late Night With Jimmy Fallon," which is apparently something you can win Emmy Awards for.

Declaring themselves "beyond excited" about the project, Schaefer and Glaser noted, "Now it's just a matter of deciding who gets to make out with Zac Efron first."

Schaefer and Glaser will executive-producer the series, which premieres later this year, along with Kim Gamble.
