MTV’s ‘Catfish’ Season 2 Trailer Hits the Web (Video)

Spoiler alert: People will not be who they say they are

MTV has released a trailer for Season 2 of its hit series “Catfish: The TV Show,” which returns on June 25.

The two-minute clip proves that MTV did not burn through every gullible Facebook user in the show's opening season. One girl in the Season 2 trailer is even engaged to a rapper who she's never met.

The unscripted series about the pitfalls of social media romance became a cultural and ratings hit, averaging 2.4 million viewers in Season 1. It received a fortunate boost during the Manti Te'o "catfish" scandal in January, with 2.8 million viewers tuning in for its January 21 episode. The show's premiere was the network's highest-rated series debut since 2007.

"Hooked on Catfish: The Road to Season 2" will air on Monday, June 17, at 12 a.m. ET. MTV says the special "will serve as a bridge between where we last left the Internet-detectives and where they're at now."
