Whitney Houston was laid to rest Sunday in a private ceremony at Fairview Cemetery in Westfield, N.J. She was buried next to her father, who was interred in 2003.
Onlookers lined the street as the police-escorted motorcade and the hearse carrying her casket made its way to the cemetery. Many held signs wishing Houston farewell and some created impromptu memorials.
The pop star was mourned at a funeral Saturday at the church in Newark where she sang in the choir as a child. The invitation-only service featured a tribute by some of the biggest names in the music, including Stevie Wonder and Alicia Keys. Kevin Costner and music mogul Clive Davis were among those who spoke.
Houston died Feb. 11 at the age of 48 at the Beverly Hilton hotel, prior to Clive Davis' annual pre-Grammys party. She was found submerged in her bathtub by a member of her personal staff.
A cause of death has not been announced pending the results of a toxicology test.
