Services for deceased pop singer Houston will be invitation-only at the New Hope Baptist Church
The funeral for Whitney Houston will be held Saturday at the Newark, New Jersey, church she attended as a child.
The Whigham Funeral Home, which made the funeral arrangements, confirmed to TheWrap on Tuesday that Houston's funeral will take place at noon at the New Hope Baptist Church.
The funeral will be invitation-only, a spokesperson for the singer told TheWrap.
The family had been considering a massive ceremony at the 18,000-capacity Prudential Center in Newark, according to reports earlier this week.
The "I Will Always Love You" singer died Saturday at 48. She was found submerged and unconscious in the bathtub of her suite at the Beverly Hilton hotel by a member of her staff. After unsuccessful attempts to revive her, she was pronounced dead at approximately 3:55 p.m. Small amounts of prescription pills, including Xanax, were reportedly found in her suite.
While an autopsy on Houston, who struggled with substance abuse during her life, is complete, a cause of death has not yet been announced. A toxicology report, which could take weeks to complete, is still pending.
