Nancy Kanter Named GM of Disney Junior Worldwide

Former VP Original Programming will ready new channel for 24-hour schedule

Nancy Kanter has been named general manager of Disney Worldwide, Disney announced today. Kanter will continue to serve as senior vice president of original programming, under the newly created title senior vice president, original programming and general manager, Disney Junior Worldwide,

As general manager, Kanter will focus on the multi-platform Disney Junior brand and its upcoming 24-hour channel launch. Disney Junior debuted last week on TV, digital and radio platforms. She will report to Carolina Lightcap, president of Disney Channels Worldwide.

Announcing the promotion, Lightcap called Kanter "a highly respected force in the creative community" who has "invigorated our content development for preschoolers."

Kanter began at Disney in 2001 as vice president, original programming.
