#NationalLazyDay Unites Liberals, Conservatives With Anti-Washington Barbs

Newsweek’s “Lazy Boy” Donald Trump cover is making the rounds again

Trump the Boy King

Today is National Lazy Day and a few frustrated observers from across the political spectrum saw it as an opportunity to take shots the leadership in Washington D.C.

Twitter users on the left resurfaced Newsweek’s “Lazy Boy” cover featuring Donald Trump, pointing out how much of his presidency has been spent golfing or watching cable news and how little has been spent passing actual legislation.

Those on the right seemed to turn their aim toward Congress, slamming Senate majority leader Mitch McConnell and House speaker Paul Ryan for failing to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act after promising to do so for years.

Some frustrated Americans also slammed Congress for taking its annual August recess when so little has been accomplished by way of legislation this term. Both chambers are scheduled to reconvene on Monday, Sept. 5.

“14% of Americans live in poverty and health insurance exchanges on verge of collapse, so Republicans take a month vacation,” wrote one user.

“It’s time for @SenMajLdr to get out, return to where he came from!” wrote another. “Too slow, not effective and out of touch!”
